RED CARPET WRAP UP: GOLDEN GLOBES
Admit it, you could probably care less who won last night- just like us, you were watching for Tina & Amy's jokes (hello, Leo that was quite a burn!) and to see what everyone was wearing! Most everyone looked lovely last night, but there were definitely a few ladies that really knocked it out of the park.
BEST DRESSED
Lupita Nyong'o, Cate Blanchett, Amy Adams and Sandra Bullock were our absolute faves. Each one of them managed to look perfectly modern, relaxed and stunning. Nyong'o's Ralph Lauren is the epitome of cool in a breathtakingly bold color. Blanchett's Armani Prive' manages to be both romantic & modern. Adam's Valentino make the case for plunging necklines, halter tops & color blocking all in one simple, gorgeous gown. And Bullock's Prabal Gurung is the most fun we've seen packed into a formal gown in forever.
LESS IS MORE
Margot Robbie, Amy Poehler & Rashida Jones prove that a simple silhouette can still pack quite a punch. Robbie's Gucci has just the right amount of glitz. Poehler's Stella McCartney shows that cut outs can be classy & sexy. And Jones' Fausto Puglisi embellished palm trees add a touch of whimsy to the red carpet. All three ladies let their dresses do the talking, while keeping their hair, makeup & accessories simple.
COOL KIDS
As much as we love an amazing, floor length gown, it's nice to see actresses switch it up. Emma Watson's Dior pants are a fun twist on red carpet attire. We'd love to see more short frocks on the red carpet & Taissa Farmiga's Elie Saab is both elegant and chic. Emma Stone's Chanel almost looks like street wear, but the fabrics elevate the look. And honestly, it just doesn't get any cooler than the incomparable Diane Keaton in a perfectly fitted Ralph Lauren tuxedo.
HOT HAIR
There were so many actress with beautiful long locks on the red carpet, but we're most excited about these short-styles. An updo, or long cascading curls seem to be de rigueur at this point, so short cuts are a breath of fresh air. Caitlin FitzGerald & Zosia Mamet both rocked the new bob- a little movement goes a long way with this look. Helen Mirren's asymmetrical bob is a bold take on the classic style. And we just LOVE Cate Blanchett's faux bob (check out out instructions to create your own here)- so simple, & elegant.
